Tips for Life with Hyperacusis

So you got hyperacusis?

That's no big deal!

Well it is, of course! At first you panic, you don't know what's wrong!

Then, you start researching this thing, getting some answers!

The most important thing is to RELAX.

Sometimes this thing is caused by upset (or temporary circumstances) and will go away just fine.
If not, you can educate your doctor (most likely they will not know what you are talking about) with a Wikipedia printout (that's what I did, and then she took me more seriously and gave me some tests to rule out the worst possibilities (whereupon it's easier to relax!)

Yes, it CAN get better - and usually it DOES!
Sometimes, by itself! Sometimes, you need to change your lifestyle - often, for the better!

I recommend to learn as much as possible about the possible causes and nutrition.

For me, it was very helpful to connect with people who were also going through this or similar on the Hyperacusis Forums and read info on hyperacusis.net.
When nobody around you can understand, it is extremely important to find people who do. Don't take everything said online for granted though, learn and explore: there are very many possible causes for this and thus different ways of getting better too...!!
